Alpha Shaka Conteh was born in Bumban Village Northern Province of Sierra Leone. I attended the Seventh Days Adventist Primary School and the Peninsular Secondary School (PSS) and the Ahmadiyya Muslim Secondary School in Freetown. I attained the Teachers Certificate at the Freetown Teachers College. (FTC) I also attained the Higher Teachers Certificate and the Bachelor in Education at the Milton Margai College of Education and Technology (MMCET) specialising in Practical Arts Education. I taught at The Rural Education Committee Primary Schools at Goderich and Waterloo for several years. I also taught at the Prince of Wales Secondary School at Kingtom, Limount College and the American International School of Freetown. I was recruited as a Lecturer at the Freetown Teachers College on the 1st. November 2000. I am presently the Deputy Head in the Department of Arts Education and Humanities at the Freetown Teachers College. I took part in writing Practical Arts modules for the Higher Teachers Certificate (HTC) programme. I served as graphic illustrator in module writing workshops. I acted as Focal Person for the Child Cantered Teaching Technique (CCTT) training of teachers supported By UNICEF and MEST for about six years. I am married and blessed with two sons.
